Hemochromatosis occurs when too much iron builds up in the body. Symptoms are - abdominal pain, fatigue , generalized darkening of the skin (also called tanning) , joint pain, lack of energy, loss of body hair , loss of libido , weight loss and weakness. The goal of treatment is to remove excess iron from the body and treat any organ damage . Phlebotomy is usually the best method. It could also help to follow a special diet.
